ज्ञान कुटीर: गाँव के बच्चों का अपना पुस्तकालय
An Open-Door, Free Community Reading Room & Library
“Walk in, pick a book, sit down, and study. Completely free, always open to all.”
A permanent legacy of the GramSutr Gopalpura Editionहमारी अपील | Our Appeal
We are starting the process of opening a library for children in the village, and we hope for support from all of you. If you have books, or anything else a library can use (chairs, tables, shelves, a fan), lying unused and you would like to donate it, please contact us.
Why a Library?
No Reading Room for 15 km
There is no library or reading room in Gopalpura or the villages around it. Students travel 10 to 15 km just to find a quiet place to sit and study. GyanKutir brings that place to their doorstep.
A Safe Space to Learn
Most homes here have neither the space nor the resources for focused study. A quiet, lit, furnished room gives children a place to sit, read, and do homework every single day.
Books Beyond Textbooks
Most children in Gopalpura have never owned a storybook. A library puts stories, science, and the wider world within walking distance of every home.
GramSutr Lives On
GramSutr was a 3-day spark. GyanKutir is the permanent flame: a lasting institution the village community will run long after the camp ends.
Opening Day at GyanKutir
On 10 July 2026, GyanKutir opened its doors. The idea born at the GramSutr camp is now a real reading room: shelves filled by donated books, inaugurated with a ribbon at the gate and almost the whole village watching. It was built without a single government grant; every book, shelf, and fan came from volunteers and donors. The shelves still have room, and your books can fill them.
The village streams in under the new GyanKutir banner on opening day, 10 July 2026.

What You Can Donate
Anything a library needs: if it helps a child sit and read, it belongs here.
Books
Storybooks, comics, NCERT textbooks, exam-prep books, dictionaries, atlases: Hindi or English.
Bookshelves & Almirahs
Shelves, racks, or steel almirahs to keep books safe from dust and damp.
Chairs & Mats
Chairs, benches, durries, or floor mats so children can sit comfortably and read.
Tables & Desks
Study tables, desks, or low writing tables for reading and homework.
Cooler / Fan
Ceiling fans, table fans, or a cooler: Bundelkhand summers are brutal; reading should not be.
Stationery & Lights
Notebooks, pens, charts, a whiteboard, emergency lights, or an inverter for power cuts.
Gently used items are welcome. Please make sure books have no missing pages and furniture or appliances are in working condition.
