Utthaan Abhiyaan

We believe that "Awareness is the first step toward change, and acceptance is the second, " and thus have launched the Utthaan Abhiyan to promote awareness regarding government schemes for the upliftment of the underprivileged classes. It was held in 2021 and 2024. Lacking information in many instances, eligible beneficiaries remain deprived of the benefits conferred upon them; this campaign served to close that gap. A regional array of teams, including Team Kolkata during Mandela Month, went into rural and marginalized areas to apprise people of the important policies and welfare programs.

Volunteers conducted interactive sessions to address the eligibility, benefits, and application procedures. Yet the group did not stop at merely disseminating information: they assisted locals in identifying schemes relevant to them and then walked step-by-step through the application procedure. Accordingly, this campaign empowered the people not just with knowledge but also with the tools to uplift their own lives. The initiative also received coverage in the media and, more so, was featured in Dainik Vishwamitra newspaper, increasing the impact. Utthaan Abhiyan is an example of how informed communities become empowered communities. We continue to work towards realizing that no seed of growth or support goes unheard or unused.
